Finding emails in sparsebundle file

I have a sparsebundle with an old backup on it — I’d like to find out if there are any copies of old gmail emails on it. How do I find this in the sparsebundle and how do I open them?

The sparsebundle is on an internal iMac (2009) drive. I can’t even see a mail folder in the library folder of the backup. The partition that I have this sparsebundle is running Snow Leopard.

Lost emails About a year ago, when my Mac updated, the emails from one of the email servers which feeds into my Mac mail application vanished, which also meant I lost all the emails as the settings automatically detected from the online server as well. I wasn't that bothered at the time. However I now need some files which were attachments on those emails. My Macs have been backed up with time machine going back to 2016, but for some reason the Time Machine isn't giving me the options as on the back up files the 2016-2020 is under my old computer, name Mac Book Air, and even the first back up on this new (M1 MBP) is under a different computer file name for some reason. So the Time Machine gives me no options. Thus either I need a way to find the mail folder on the backup files, on my external HD, or a way for Time Machine to recognise the previous backups. Any ideas?

A question on Mail on Mac. It seems I lost a whole Mailbox (abt 80 emails) from my ON MY MAC library. Considering I am religiously backing up my computer every Saturday, this is no disaster. I located the lost Mailbox on my back-up disk. How do I transfer the “culprit” Mailbox from the external disk to its location in my library? Tks

Use Devon Technologies EasyFind, which can find hidden files as long as they aren't still encrypted in a closed image file. You have to be able to open the sparse bundle image as its own mounted disc before locating anything in it. Mac OS X Mail typically stores the folders as .mbox files.
