updating MacBook with the auto software update

Hey I have a 2010 MacBook Pro with Catalina 10.15.7 just took my girls old one bought her a new one. should I do the software update its asking for or no?

I was told that it is to old

How long will my vintage MacBookPro11,1 receive MacOS updates? I noted recently that my MacBook Pro 11,1 (mid 2014) has been declared vintage. Also, I was not able to tell exactly what that means in terms of how long it will receive operating system updates. This has been a wonderful machine, and I will likely replace it with another MacBook of some type. However...does anyone know what the update timeline is for Mac OS updates after a device is declared vintage? Thanks! Mj

If Software Update is offering a macOS update, yes.
