Fifty people have had this issue - mine happened suddenly just like the others. Suddenly ethernet data stream is not recognized by the Apple TV 4K. After years of service and no change to set-up. The 4k sees ethernet and connects - but states that " it needs to be connected to the internet. Has anyone found a fix. Does Apple ever read these community posts and do anything about these product defects?

First, you try to reset or update your Apple and try whether you are able to connect to the Ethernet or not.
If still, it is not working, there could be a hardware failure.
When there is a hardware failure, no repair is possible in Apple TV. Only the replacement is possible.
Get it to Authorised Apple Service Centre to get it replaced for free if it is under warranty or you need to pay some exchange price.
