FaceTime Crashes when opened or receiving call

Since upgrading to Montery (12.2) on my Mac Pro (late 2013) Facetime will crash when trying to open the app, or when I receive a call. The major problem this causes is that when I receive a phone call to my cell #, FaceTime tries to open on the Mac Pro and then crashes and immediately sends the call to voicemail. Only way around the issue that I have found is to shut down the Mac Pro, which isn't a viable option. Since FaceTime wont open I cant disable FaceTime in Preferences. Either I need to fix the FaceTime app so it works (dont really use it at all on my Mac) or completely disable it. I have attached the crash log. Any suggestions on a fix?

It turns out that my external webcam needs to be plugged in. Opens with no crash. I generally dont keep my webcam plugged in and haven't seen this issue before. Maybe a driver issue. Either way it has been resolved. Thanks for the feedback!

Hey Chris,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We understand FaceTime is crashing on your Mac, and it's making it difficult to receive calls on your iPhone too. Let's help.

Since FaceTime is a built-in app on macOS, we can't easily suggest to delete and reinstall it. Your macOS is up to date too. We'd like to have you boot into safe mode to test is the behavior continues: How to use safe mode on your Mac. You should also test for the issue once more after rebooting back into your normal user mode.

Then, follow next steps based on the results of the above test; either 'If the issue continues in safe mode' or 'If the issue doesn't continue in safe mode' in that same article.

Keep us posted.

Regards.

Chris,

Thanks for running through all of those steps and reporting back with your results. If you reinstalled macOS Monterey and fully updated but the issue remains, you'll want to report this to Apple directly to get their eyes on it for more investigation. You can use this link to connect with them: Get Support

Thank you for working with us here in the Communities!

Take care.

Booted into Safe Mode. Still had the issue with FaceTime crashing when opening. Tried a new user profile and the problem still happens. Tried Guest account and still happens. Went into Recovery Mode and re-installed Monterey. Didnt fix the issue. Have been deleting apps to see if that is what is causing the issue and that didnt resolve it. Kind of at a loss.
