In game app purchases

I purchased a 50 dollar apple gift card and redeemed into my account. I can see in my account that it says I have a 50 dollar balance. I tried to us this balance to purchase a pack inside of brawl stars and all I got was an error saying I needed to contact apple support for help. I thought that it was a problem with the credit card information that I had. So I went to update even though I already had the right one in there. Tried again and the same error popped up. Then I tried to purchase an app in the app store to see if maybe the balance was bugged, but it worked in the app store. So I was asking for help to see if I can use my apple balance to purchase in game app purchases because they still do not work for me. Any help is appreciated and i just want to fully utilize my apple balance.
