Wireless Carplay lag

There is a great amount of lag (between 1-2 seconds) between things like switching songs, hitting the pause button and the pause actually happening, phone calls / responses. Even watching videos while stationary the video is unsynced so much from the audio that it becomes unwatchable. This does not happen on wired carplay, just wireless. Is there no way for the phone and the car to negotiate the lag and compensate by adjusting the video, etc.? Even then, the lag with the music is tremendous too, especially when switching songs.

I have tried unpairing and readding the device but that changed nothing.
