Error in Apple Music on Monterey 12.2 - 'app.js[2031:72] Error: We’ve run into a problem'

There is an error in Apple Music when accessing My Account using the icon in the 'Listen Now' screen. There is a separate thread that claims this has been solved, but as other posts on that thread disagree with the solution I am starting a new thread hoping that Apple will see and address this.

When I click the My Account icon, I get the error shown:

Clicking 'Retry' has no effect. The only way to quit Music when this error occurs is to Force Quit from the Apple menu.

I spent some time on the phone to Apple Support a couple of days ago, including screen sharing with a Mac engineer when it was escalated to the Mac team. He said this is a known issue for which - at the moment - there is apparently no fix. The support engineer took me through using a test account to login, then using Safe Mode, none of which worked. The next step was going to be re-installing Monterey - but we agreed that it might be prudent to wait a few days for a less invasive fix!

One other piece of context that might be relevant is that I signed up for a free trial of Apple One prior to seeing this error. I have had an Apple Music subscription previously several months ago, but this was not current.

This worked for me — reset Wifi/Network settings:

  1. Open System Preferences
  2. Open Network
  3. Highlight Wifi in the left hand side list
  4. Click the minus (-) button at the bottom of the connections list
  5. Restart your Mac
  6. Reopen Network preferences
  7. Click the plus (+) button at the bottom of the connections list
  8. Select wifi
  9. Turn Wifi on and connect to your preferred network
  10. Restart the Music App — hey presto!

Hi, thanks for all contributions with 'fixes'.

I don't think I am alone, but none of these worked for me.

I suspect an underlying user account data problem that is not being handled properly by the underlying 'app.js' javascript library. I wish someone from the Apple Music development team would look at this and comment...anyone...?

Same issue here... Very disappointed, I'd psyched myself up to give Apple music a go when looking for a Spotify replacement.

I missed out on their 3 months free offer by a day as they cut it to 1 month, then when I finally signed up, I transfered all my albums and playlists, and I find out I can't access them on my M1 Mac.

I can see everything on my iPad and even on my Android phone! But not a Mac...

Really bad, and not very Apple. And no I'm re-installing Monterey, It's pain and I shouldn't have to.

Back to Spotify, no Neil Young, lossy sound quality, but bug free app.
