Airpods Pro one squeeze brings up Siri on Mac

On my iPhone one squeeze on either Airpod plays & pauses as desired, but on my Mac it brings up Siri.

Disabling Siri as an attempt to solve the issue does not work – Squeezing once produces a clicking sound but does nothing.

It used to work as play/pause before but one of the updates might've changed that. Anyone know how to bring the old behavior back?
