Hi,
I changed the connection from router (Fritzbox 7590) to iMac (late 2013) from WiFi to Ethernet.
Under system preferences -> Network appears "cable unplugged" only.
No this: I put the ethernet cable into a switch (Netgear GS105) and connect the switch to the iMac ethernet port, then I get a fine 1 Gbit ethernet connection.
I tried various solutions from the internet, always without success.
Is there anyone with a solution/proposal ?

Problem solved, I should have waited with this tread.
I double-checked the plug of my ethernet cable.
Obviously it fitted the switch correctly, but it did not in the iMac port.....
So I need a new plug or a new cable.

Just to make sure: are you connecting the Ethernet cable to one of the ORANGE ports (and NOT the blue one)?
Sorry if this is obvious, but sometimes it's the obvious things that trick us.
So, let me see if I understand: if you are you connecting the switch to the router, and then connect the mac to the switch, it works, but if you connect the mac directly to the router it does not work?
I am not familiar with this router specifically. How many ports does it have, and to which port are you connecting?
