A couple of things to note:

• On Macs with Apple silicon, Command-R does nothing. Instead, shut down the Mac, then press and hold the power button (Touch ID) until Startup Options loads. Then, choose Options to load macOS Recovery.

• When erasing Macintosh HD, be sure to erase the volume GROUP if you're running a recent version of macOS.

1. Back up all of your apps and data
2. shut down the machine.
3. hold power button simultaneously cmd + r to boot into recovery mode
4. go into disk utility
5. find your Macintosh HD volume
6. erase the volume (this will erase all apps and data)
7. exit out of disk utility
8. open Install macOS Moterey
9. run through the install process
