how do i reset my Macbook Pro?

I am having problems with Mail...it is extremely slow. I have backed up my complete MacBook Pro M1 -2020 running Monterey 12.2. How can I reset it to factory settings?....so that Mail can ''start over''?

  1. Back up all of your apps and data
  2. shut down the machine.
  3. hold power button simultaneously cmd + r to boot into recovery mode
  4. go into disk utility
  5. find your Macintosh HD volume
  6. erase the volume (this will erase all apps and data)
  7. exit out of disk utility
  8. open Install macOS Moterey
  9. run through the install process
