Editing Iphone video on FCPX
Recently I have been unable to edit video footage shot on my iphone XS Max on FCPX. Can anyone tell me why this is. I have footage i need to import and edit.

You can't import nonlocal content to FCP.
I'd recommend that you connect the iPhone to your mac and import directly.
If the files are in the cloud, try copying them first to a folder in your local drive, and import from there.
OMG that worked. I didn't even think of that but makes sense I suppose.....thank you all very much I appreciate your time and effort and of course knowledge

What’s the versions of the OS and FCP? What are specs of the media you’re shooting? Are you connecting the camera and importing from the camera or something else?
OS 12.1 on my mac which i edit on and and up to date on Iphone amd FCPx 10.6.1 all footage from Iphone appears to be recording in HEVC
Are you connecting the iPhone to your mac with the cable, or are you getting the files to your mac in some other way?
What exactly happens when you try to import?
I am trying to import from Icloud by dragging a dropping from Photos to FCPx. Have also tried importing buy cant find "photos" on the import option
