How do I identify the version of my iPod?

How do I identify the version of my ipod? It is before V4, S/N 45***RS9, v1.1.5.

It appears but won't play on iTunes.

By version do you mean the model and generation of iPod, or do you mean the software version it is running?

Thanks to your reference I learned that It is the original Ipod Shuffle circa 2005. The v 1.1.5 is the software version, which it says is up to date..

I would like to add/delete music on it but can't seem to access it.

Thanks, but that's where I started and it did not work. The ipod synched but the play button was not active (grey).
