Keynote keeps recording silence! Help!

I use keynote for client presentations. When I create a new presentation I duplicate a template I created, and re-record new audio.

I plug in my usb microphone using an Apple usb-c(?) converter cord. I’ll start recording then randomly my recording will go silent. So if I backtrack at a certain point it’s just silent. I have used different mics AND purchased a new cord. I have spent now over $150 on this issue alone😭. If I remove a mic and use my computer mic- which is NOT acceptable for client presentations, it doesn’t have this issue. My MacBook Pro is updated. Help!!

MacBook Pro 13″, OS X 10.11

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities LCRupert4911,

We see that you're having an issue when trying to create a presentation. We'd be happy to help.

You've done some good troubleshooting steps to try to isolate this issue. Next, let's have you test in another user account to see if the issue remains.

Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

If the issue remains in another user, you might want to reach out to Apple Support for further assistance with this issue.
