If I have Emergency Bypass on for some of my contacts, do I still need to add them in Do Not Disturb?
Can I just leave Do Not Disturb off and silence my phone when I don't want to be disturbed except by my Emergency Bypass contacts?
Will I still get Government Emergency and Public Safety Alerts if my phone is silenced?

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you have some questions about using Do Not Disturb.
In iOS 15, Focus has replaced Emergency Bypass. So, to make sure that you receive notifications from certain people, you can add them to allowed people from Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb. Check out Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Also, your Government and Public Safety alerts should still be received when your iPhone is silenced. Make sure they are enabled using the guidance from About emergency and government alerts on iPhone and Apple Watch.

Thank you for your response. On my iPhone (iOS 15.3) Emergency Bypass is still available by choosing to edit a contact and then tapping on the Ringtone. The Emergency Bypass option appears at the top. If I silence my phone, my contacts with Emergency Bypass enabled would still get through. I don't believe this is the case with Do Not Disturb. The only drawback to using Emergency Bypass is that the phone would ring on silent when I might not want it to such as during a concert.
