Apple Music Censoring

My Apple Music is censoring songs (and yes, I have the explicit version downloaded). My issue is that it's only censoring Jon Bellion. I've played music from bbno$ to Billie Eilish, and all of their explicit songs have the swears/explicit content in it.

When I play an explicit Jon Bellion song, the swears are either bleeped or just plain cut out.

I have tried turning off screen time, going to iTunes and playing an explicit song. I did not receive any pop-up asking if it's okay to play explicit songs.

I have gone into my screen time settings, and my content restrictions are set to allow explicit content.

I am not sure what to do as it's only one artist, but he is one of my favorites.

I’m so relieved I’m not the only one to have had this happen to! Thank God, it’s finally fixed! I just Googled the problem and found this thread while I was listening to a song of his, because I needed to get to the bottom of it. I thought it might have been something that Apple decided to do, but if you go into Settings> Apple Music> Dolby Atmos and turn it OFF, it fixes it immediately. Mine was on automatic, and the second I turned it off, the song rang out those sweet, sweet f bombs once again 😊

Go to your main iPhone settings —> Music —> Dolby Atmos. It’s around 1/3rd down the page, after “Sync Library” but before EQ.

You may have to delete the local downloads for impacted songs, because Apple will not automatically replace your Dolby music files with non-Dolby versions the instant you turn it off. The setting only applies going forward, to songs downloaded or streamed afterwards.

The easiest solution to that is to just delete all local downloads (this doesn’t remove songs from your library). In the same music settings a couple lines below Dolby Atmos, there’s a “Downloaded Music” option. Go there, click Edit, and press the red minus sign at the top to just delete everything.

Dont do this second step unless you have decent wifi or are otherwise comfortable redownloading your library. And definitely don’t do it if you have songs from external sources like CDs. In that case you’d want that just delete individual songs that are affected by the problem.

Perhaps have a friend listen to the same song on their account/device and see if the same thing happens? I wonder if it has nothing to do with you and is just that his songs are just uploaded that way in Apple Music in which case it would happen for everyone. I can't think of any setting that affects songs on a lyrical basis especially since you already checked your other settings.

Turning off Dolby Atmos has not worked for me unfortunately. I'm listening to 'Amputation' on The Jesus and Mary Chain's Damage and Joy, in which the "f**k" in the line "kiss today but f**k tomorrow" has been faded out. I own the CD – it's not supposed to be like this.

Ironically this is the 'Deluxe' edition (no other version is available); I didn't know 'deluxe' was a synonym for 'censored'.
