Trouble importing an ios project from imovie on my iphone to macbook pro.

I can't import my ios projects from imovie on my iphone to imovie on my Macbook Pro. The error message says, "Failed to import ios project. The project's version is too new."

Both my ios on my Macbook Pro and on my iphone are updated. I've also tried restarting, reimporting, making sure all imovie apps are up-to-date. Any other suggestions?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.2

Further to my previous post, as a workaround you can use AirDrop to export your iOS project as a movie (as opposed to a project) to your Mac. Then you can drag the movie into a Mac iMovie project and edit it there to a limited extent. You will not be able to undo embedded edits from the iOS project. However, you will be able to split the clip into segments, delete or trim clips, add more clips, add titles, add effects, change music, and so on. To change edits that were embedded into the iOS project clip, you can cut out the clip and reimport the unedited original, thus enabling you to do new editing within the Mac iMovie project.

Trouble importing an iOS iMovie project to the Mac has been reported several times on this forum. After updating my iPhone I am experiencing the same problem. However, I am running Mojave on my Mac. Nevertheless, I did not have the import problem before.

I am not aware of any cure at this moment, other than perhaps upgrading the OS and iMovie for Mac to current, as you might already have done. In the iMovie for Mac version history iMovie 10.2.4 purports to address the importing of projects created with iOS 2.3, but that was 7 months ago.
