iMovie won't open iMovie Mobile project: The project’s version is too new.

iMovie on my Mac will not open iMovie Mobile projects.

I get the following notice:

Failed to import iOS project. The project’s version is too new.

I am running the most up to date version of Monterrey and iMovie 10.2.5.

As far as I can tell this is the most up to date version of iMovie.

I am running iOS 15.1.1 on my iPhone 12.

Any ideas?

Try this.

First drag your iMovie application to the Trash, BUT DO NOT EMPTY THE TRASH YET!

Open the App Store and click on your account bottom left.

This should take you to your "Purchased" page. ( even though iMovie is free)

You should see iMovie listed on this page ( along with other apps..Garage Band e.t.c )

You should be able to update from here.
