I have a gift card but only the receipt, no the card. The receipt has a serial number, but I can’t use it because the platform is asking for the card that o don’t have. What can I do?

I want to use my balance on my iTunes gift card instead of my debit card & it keeps declining me. Why is it not working?
Redeem the card so that the amount is added to your Apple ID balance. Then it will use the balance for any purchases (except gifts).
