Airpods Pro are connected but do not play any sound. The videos and music play from the iPhone speaker but no sound from AirPods. This happens with all types of media apps(tiktok, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify, local video from gallery, Apple Music)

When I go to Bluetooth setting, my AirPods show up as connected. But the sound bar doesn’t show AirPods, it shows the speaker (attaching screenshots taken at that instant)

This happens every single time I have previously connected to my laptop. This behavior doesn’t occur with my MacBook Pro.

I cannot keep forgetting the AirPods or resetting everything every single time I switch from MacBook to iPhone. It’s not a feasible solution which is suggested on these posts. It helps if that happens once, but it’s not a solution I can keep doing every hour while I’m working

Here's what I've tried so far based on the suggestions from hundreds of posts and blogs too

1) Switching bluetooth off and then on again to reconnect AirPods

2) Disconnect AirPods from Bluetooth and then reconnect again

3) Closing all apps and retrying this process again

4) Making sure all devices are up to date

5) making sure iCloud is synced properly

When I reset the AirPods, it obviously works because it’s supposed to as you’re resetting everything.

"Thanks for the reply. It’s definitely not the volume because I’ve tried the steps in this as well. Also, if it was the volume wouldn’t it the iPhone speaker too not play on loud? in my case, I can clearly hear the media playing on the phone."

What to Try:

A. App Volume:

Well, the volume it pretty low***, so I would check the volume on the app you are using. If using a media player, then make sue the volume is turned up on that as well.

B. Turn Off Automatic Switching:

To stop this, turn off Automatic Switching. Do so on all devices, then enable it on this device.

  1. Go Here: Switch your AirPods to Another Device - Apple Support
  2. Scroll to: Turn off automatic switching
  3. Proceed from there as necessary

Troubleshooting iPhone Volume:

First off, make sure that the volume is not muted. Muting the volume can also be performed on an App itself. So, becercian that all volume is not muted: then iPhone and the App in use.
