MBP battery management control by terminal.

Hi.

As there is an app "Al Dente" which can override optimized charging on M1 Pro MBP(charge, discharge, maximum charge level etc.), those settings must be accessible also through the terminal commands?

Any info appreciated.

Thanks.

Is it confidential information of some kind? Against some rules? Or you simply do not know the answer?

To add more information, I have real issue when I need to stop my work for a week when my MBP has to go to repair due to bulged battery. And yes, Apple's "Optimized charging" does not work properly, plus by design it is not adequate for my work pattern.

Thanks.

A bulging battery is a very serious issue and is an indication of a defective battery.

This has zero to do with overcharging or limiting the charging of battery via Terminal Command and / to Third Party Software to affect such changes.

Batteries are considered Consumable Products. Over time it will degrade to a point where it needs to be replaced. The usage is normal as the capacity will go up and down all the time and never stay always at 100%. Apple Batteries are rated for 1000 Full Battery Cycles and / or 80% Capacity before needing Evaluation or replacement.

For additional reading on Battery and Apple Computers this link may help. About battery health management in Mac notebooks and especially for the M1 and Big Sur  & Monterey If battery charging is paused or on hold on your Mac

Depending on the Age of the computer, some aspects from the above links, may or may not apply to your computer.

A feature introduced into Big Sur & Monterey was to preserve the number of Full Battery Cycles - there was an Algorithm coded into the macOS. It is perfectly Normal for Big Sur , Monterey to Pause / Suspend charging the battery beyond 80% and hold it at that level. One can nudge / over-ride this by clicking the Battery Icon on Desktop Top Bar and allow charging beyond 80%. From observations, it will Pause / Suspend again once reading 90%. Same procedure to over-ride and will charge to 100%

I do not understand WHY every question here needs to be diverted to irrelevant talks.

Bulging is DIRECTLY related to charging pattern. EVERY MBP in the studio that is on mains power 24/7 ends up with BULGED BATTERIES. I do not care if all of them are defective or not, but on MBP's that are used "normally as notebooks", we have not encountered a SINGLE bulged battery.

And YES those need to be notebooks not desktops, for occasional mobile work.

It would be really nice if people could actually answer questions and not waste time with pointless discussions. Thanks.

Thank you. Bulging battery was mentioned ONLY because you tried to flood my question. I never claimed you wrong at anything, I am just saying that it is irrelevant to my question.

I only want to get an answer to my simple question - how to control battery management by terminal commands if that is at all possible. Thanks again.
