Why is "52" showing up in the phone number when I attempt to Facetime?

This kept happening to me after a recent trip to Hawaii, I tried all the above and it didn’t resolve my issue either.
My issue resolved when I went to my settings scrolled down to phone and turned on my dial assist.
When I turned it on it noted that it automatically detects the country code needed when placing calls.
I’ve tried several FaceTime calls since and it is no longer happening.
Hopefully this is it because that was so annoying. I will update if the problem reoccurs but so far all is good.

If Apple Support has told you they are aware of the issue and they are working on it there is nothing more you can do.
Thank you for your feedback. It’s still very frustrating that they have been aware of this since February and no resolution. So now I can no longer make facetime calls is a serious problem :(

Hello. Im Having the same issue. When I try to FaceTime it adds a 52. Mexico country code before the phone number even though it’s not saved that way in my contacts and the FaceTime fails.
Read the thread that you posted your question to. Someone provided a solution. Try it.
This did not work for me. I have a US sim card and the people I am attempting to FaceTime have US numbers. This only happens with FaceTime and not regular phone calls.

I have the same issue and I realized after talking to the person who I was initially trying to call that the FaceTimes with the 52 never go through.
