Annotate in iBooks on iPad pro

I can’t get annotate tool to show up in iBooks by doing what I’ve found on the forums so far, such as making sure notes is on, pen is connected, etc. Any other suggestions please? I managed to get it only once in the past and can’t remember.

Can I use goodnotes on my iMac to take hand notes with my iPad as a sketch surface with my Apple Pencil? Thanx a lot for the help!!!! I like to use Goodnotes not only on iPad, but on the big iMac screen. I also would like to make some Hand-Notes. Problem with Continuity Markup in the Preview app (edit PDF on IPAD) The option to annotate on the IPad is not shown in the preview app (working with PDF). I can use the feature as described from e.g. the notes app or mails. Working with the 2019 MacBook Pro 16" and the IPad Pro 2nd Gen. both with the most recent software.
