Its stupid the way it is and not being able to rotate the Home Screen upside down.

On my desk [just about every other office desk I've seen all the chords are plugged in on the floor at the back of the desk and come up from the back of the desk].

So when I have the phone sitting on my desk charging the cord has to come around from the top of the phone to the bottom of the phone where it's plugged in it gets in the way. If I could just rotate the phone upside down so the charging cord effectively is at the top of the phone it would sit so much nicer on the desk.... this is a stupid Apple thing and I used to be able to rotate it.

This was a feature on iPhone -- at least on the earlier versions. I know it was as late as iPhone7.

Yes, we've established that. Did you read my response directly above yours?

I would prefer if the IdrisSeabright would revise their response to include the shared experience of the group who has clearly proven that upside-down display was a capability that is no longer a function of the current iPhone.

I would happily do that if it were an option. One can only edit a post within 15 minutes of posting.

I would also prefer that Apple bring this feature back, if possible. There are certainly times when I am charging that upside-down display is very convenient.

Have you submitted feedback? As long as the notch exists, I don't think it's likely to happen but the more people who submit feedback, the more likely Apple is to consider it in future designs.

Sure. I am not a veteran of this forum and I was unaware of the inability to edit after 15 minutes of the original post. It's a shame that they selected a somewhat misleading post as the definitive, recommended answer. Clearly that is not your doing and there is nothing you can do about it now.

I have submitted feedback as you and WATSOBJ advise. I am hoping for the best, but agree that there is probably a hardware limitation as you point out.

Thank you.

It is what it is, at least for the moment.

That's the best you can do.

My iPhone SE Classic (2016) can do the full screen rotation to an upside-down phone with an upright screen. It's handy when you want to connect the lightning cable at the "top". But my iPhone 13 Mini (2020) can only do the standard Portrait/Landscape. Both iPhones are currently on iOS 15.7.

That's correct. Phones with the "notch" don't rotate upside down.

My 2020 iPhone SE did it fine every time I use Google maps no problem. I just got an iPhone XR because my se broke…. Now it can’t. I’m pretty sure this is a way of Apple, forcing you to buy accessories. I could barely get an Apple device set up without having another Apple device, it’s robbery.

I agree. It’s irritating enough that Apple is so greedy that it constantly changes the size of the phone just enough that you can’t continue to use the same cases for example, 13 promax to 14 promax. Also irritating change of the charging ports and still frustrated there’s no headphone jack. Because if you have to charge and you want to use headphones, other than Bluetooth forget it. But I agree with most people one of the most frustrating things is the inability to turn the phone upside down and set it in the car cupholder when using the map feature even if you have Apple play, I still like to be able to see the directions written out and then have the map up. But this is completely difficult because you can’t turn the phone 180°. What the heck Apple?

And actually after thinking about it, I think the thing that frustrates me the most with the Apple 13 pro max. Is it still in my opinion is an epic failure with night photos. I cannot believe that I can’t get a good picture of the night sky, or cool shot of the moon with a 13ProMax , I have looked at all kinds of videos and it just shouldn’t be that complicated. This was one of the big sellers when I upgraded to the 13 promax. Other photos are great. Night photos under the exact perfect circumstances are fine. But I find the inability to change the night mode easily is incredibly frustrating. And I just can’t get a good photo of a night sky unless it is completely perfect conditions according to my phone . Apple needs to get on that I’m not updating my phone anymore. I’m tired of spending all this money on phones with the hope of getting better photos and that just hasn’t happened.
