Notes [cloud] : Slow feedback on typing

Using Notes seems quite impossible in certain conditions. Mostly on iPad, rarely on iPhone.

When everyting is fine is just slow. But sometimes become so slow to become unusable.

Feedback from typing is like 1-3 sec (time between when I press a char on the keyboard and the appearance of the char on the screen).

It does not depend on the device so I think it's a cloud related problem.

For sure on the iPad (even on a pro) the lag it's very evident, up to a point I stopped using it.

I've tried this on OSX (even older version) and iOS or iPadOS.

Best setup seems OSX with a olde version (High Sierra) and Firewall off. It seems that the problem is non present or so subdle that you won't notice it.

Any advice on clue about this?

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We understand you're seeing a slow response time when typing within a Note that is connected to iCloud. We'd like to help.

With mentioning this happens more often on the iPad, let's run some tests on that device first. To confirm and isolate if this does relate to iCloud, navigate to Settings > Notes, and turn on "On my iPad" Account. This will allow you to create notes that are saved on your iPad directly instead of in iCloud. Then, open the Notes app > top left corner tap Folders, then tap Notes under On My iPad. Create a new note there and let us know if you notice the lag when typing there too.

Change your Notes settings on iPad

Keep us posted and also let us know which exact iPadOS you're using under Settings > General > About.

Hello I am not the original poster but have been having the same issues.

I just did what you described and had no lag at all for the “on my iPad” notes, but did for cloud.

How can I fix this for cloud notes?
