Permission error on dropbox

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, 2 TBT3)

Issue: Getting a permission error when setting up dropbo

-Already allowed dropbox to have full disk access

-Also run first aid on the internal drive

-Mac doesn’t have a firmware password set up and not using a T2 chip

-Dropbox support referred the me to Apple because it was working before the mac was erased and restored from time machine back up

-I noticed the mac format is APFS encrypted, do you think this will cause the permission issue with dropbox?

-Do you have any suggestion on how to make this work?

It might help to know what problems you were having with the laptop before erasing the laptop & restoring from TM. This just may be a new symptom because restoring from a backup can bring back the original problem. If you perform a clean install by first erasing the whole physical SSD and you still have the issue with Dropbox before restoring from your backup, then it would seem to be an issue with Dropbox which only the developer can help you. If Dropbox is fine before restoring from a TM backup, then something with the TM backup is causing a problem. This is the quickest way to determine where the problem lies.

You can also attempt to delete the Dropbox .plist preference file(s) in case there is a problem with them. Maybe they include some old access configuration information that is not valid after restoring from TM. Can Dropbox even be restored from a TM backup without issues? (I don't use TM or Dropbox). Make sure the macOS System Preferences allow giving Dropbox the necessary permissions both to connect online and to access the folders/drive.

Anti-virus software, cleaning apps, and third party security software can interfere with the normal operation of macOS. If you are running these apps, then you should uninstall them by following the developer's instructions.

If in doubt refer to the developers website; Support/Help/FAQ/known issues/compatibility/Updates:
