Need to change a paint brush shape into a mask

Simplified problem: I drew and animated an irregular blob shape. I would like to fill the shape with a still or video, using the inside of the shape as a mask. Possible? I could have made the blob using the mask tool instead, but then I wanted an outline around the shape.

You can turn any object into a mask.


You don't say how you drew this blob, so I will assume you used the Paint Stroke tool, say, to draw this:



Select the Paint Stroke object and open the Inspector.

Turn on the Fill; optionally, turn off the Stroke.



Now suppose you have a picture that you want to mask, like, say, this:


Add Image Mask, and drag the Paint Stroke object to the mask well in the Inspector:
