I had no battery issue with my 2017 Macbook Pro until I upgraded recently to Monterey. Not sure what happened but at first the machine shut down within an hour or two. Now it holds a charge but says the battery capacity is bad and service is needed. Any ideas?

Same-ish here -without the capacity/service message. Since Monterey upgrade 2017 MBP shuts down with around 39% remaining and displays the charge icon on screen if I try and restart without connecting to power. Battery health says good/normal
Thanks. I will try letting my MBP run down to under 40% and see what happens. That may explain the surprising sudden shut-down when I first noticed a problem. Will let you know what happens.
Even though the battery level indicated 39% I don’t think it was accurate as I’d barely used it since its last full charge.
