I just updated to IOS 15.3 hoping it would fix the bug in maps. But it has not. Whenever I request directions, it automatically gives me the directions for Transit. I have my default setting set to driving. This is very frustrating.

While you can set a preferred travel, it is not an actual default. But I wonder, are these short trips that may be easier with Transit, or is it showing you multiple routes and it is showing driving and transit? It is difficult for me to test here as I cannot route transit since we don't have any in my area.
I am in sales and I have many appointments. I get my directions through the address in my calendar. When I click on the address, it comes up automatically with the transit directions. Which for my next appointment would be 2 hours and 45 mintues. So i need to click on the bus and change it to a car. It is a 20 minutes drive.
This just started after one of the more recent updates.
You will probably need someone that has access to transit directions to be able to do that. Wait and see if someone else responds here that has the ability to test that.
I have this problem too, but in reverse. I'm in New York City and don't have a car, but it insists on giving me directions for the car, even though I set the default route planner for transit.
