icloud for Windows on Windows 11 machine will not run

New HP laptop with Windows 11 Pro. All updates applied including all drivers.

Go to the MS Store and install the icloud for Windows app.

Launch the iCloud app.

The login screen will usually appear but then disappears after a couple of seconds.

Tried removing, rebooting and reinstalling with the same result.

Tried working with Apple support in Case ID: 101617697535 but they were useless.

Logging in on the website with no problem, only the app is giving me issues.

Computer next to me with Windows 10 and iCloud for Windows work OK.

I see messages like this in the Windows Event Viewer

Persistence pays off.

I downloaded the older Win 7/8 version of iCloud from Apple.

This installed and worked. At least I could login although it was not syncing but I did not spend a lot of time with it.

Then I went to the MS Store and downloaded and installed the latest iCloud for Windows and let it uninstall the old and install itself on top.

It works. It synced immediately and all appears well.

More testing by Apple is required.

Hello, MysticWarrior1234!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! If we understand correctly, you've been unable to install iCloud for Windows but you're able to access the website without issue.

First, let's make sure you have the system requirements: System requirements for iCloud. We'd want to rule this out right away.

If your system does meet the requirements, we'd want you to follow this guide: If you can't download or install iCloud for Windows. Go though the first section, and if needed use "If you still need help" if this still isn't resolved.

All the best.

Hello,

"you've been unable to install iCloud for Windows but you're able to access the website without issue."

YES, you understand correctly

System

Windows 11 Pro latest update today

Firefox 97.0 (64 bit)

iTunes 12.12.2.2

As for the link, I have been through that. As you can see from what I posted from the Event Viewer, there is a problem that does not display itself in the UI. All I see, and there is another unresolved thread from late 2021 that has the same issue, is the iCloud banner/login page come up and then disappear in a few seconds.

Thank you
