Beats Flex broken by Apple Watch charger?

Hello! I have had a pair of Beats Flex for a while, I really like them. I keep a bunch of charging cables constantly plugged in on a table in my office so I can change devices as I need to. Literally just now, I plugged my Beats Flex using a USB-C cable to charge them, and walked away. After maybe 10 minutes I walked back and noticed that the Apple Watch charger (also plugged in) was magnetically attached to the earbuds themselves, which happens from time to time because they are both magnetic and nearby one another frequently. I looked at the Beats Flex and there was no LED light on to indicate that they were charging, which seemed odd. I unplugged them and tried turning them on, to no avail. I tried pressing the volume down and power button for 15 seconds, plugging them back in, no matter what I do, it seems that my Beats Flex will no longer turn on. It seems that they are broken.

I never really considered the Apple Watch charger a hazard to other devices, but I guess it is? If the Apple Watch charger makes contact with Beats Flex while they are charging, can this short them out? Does anyone have an idea of how this happened? I know from now on to be careful about magnetic things touching my earbuds, but this was surprising and disappointing. I live in a third world country and can only get replacement electronics like this when I go back to the US during the summer, and now I'm going to have to wait six months to get these replaced 😔
