in trying to update my 5s but it keeps saying no internet connection even though im on wifi. i dont have any uninstalled updates either and I can't figure out what the problem is.

But I’m only trying to update to 9.3.1.
What do you mean? You can not downgrade from iOS 12.xx to 9.3.1.
My iPhone 4S running iOS 9.3.6.
Are you talking about another iPhone type?

The 5S supports 12.5.5, so you probably don’t have a 5S. Go to Settings/General/About and read what it says for Model Name.
I’m trying to use my old iphone just for things like music, pictures, apps, etc so I can free up space on my active iPhone. The 5s never saw an update past 7.1.2. Some of the apps I use require an iOS of at least 9.0…..
Settings to software update: It tells me I have an update. I click install and it tries to verify the update but then a message pops up telling me it couldn’t verify the update because I’m no longer on the internet ( even though I am). Yes I’m connected because I tried safari and it works just fine. Ive tried only getting on networks that are 3G, plugged in, not plugged in, rebooting the phone, resetting the whole phone to factory settings. The only thing left to do is a factory restore, I think, then set it up as new and try the update again? Your thoughts?

I’ll give those a shot! But I’m only trying to update to 9.3.1. That’s the only update available for me at the moment. Is there a way to force an update if the phone is connected to my computer?
