No notifications-banners, badges nor sound

Help.. 5 days ago my iPhone SE 1st generation stopped notifications for Apple news, app updates, WhatsApp, Signal, Instagram and FB - no notifications at all- no sound, banner, badge alert. I can only see messages/info when I open each app. Friends state messages to me in WhatsApp aren’t delivered eg only one tick their end until I open app.

Oddly messenger seems to work .. at the moment.


I also note a spinning wheel in top left next to phone/WiFi signal


Things I have done to resolve these problems:


-Software phone was running iOS 14. Something -updated to iOS 15.3 ..

-app updates - no notifications of updates but noticed in App Store updates for signal and WhatsApp. , updated

-light reset - several times

-phone on and off - several times

-notifications - checked and turned on and off and back on in iPhone settings and each app setting

-background refresh, on WiFi and mobile usually only have WiFi on

-off loaded news app and reloaded .. this allowed two new notifications but no more

-reset push notifications on Signal - seemed to work for a short time

- checked do not disturb/focus these were and are turned off

-have enough memory on iPhone

-checked network provider.. told a light reset should fix phone and not network problem

-checked WhatsApp solution.. blames iOS software

-checked lots of forums

Anyone else having this problem or can help please? I’ve spent days trying to find a solution a missing important work messages.

Hello,

Hmm, I don't know, but you could be low on local storage. You should strive to have at least 10% free. Check here: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

If no help, see these general steps for no-sound:

  1. Is the side silent mute button on? Does any red show? Slide it back and fourth.
  2. How about the volume buttons? Is the volume very low? Move the buttons.
  3. Is Do Not Disturb on? Go to Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb. Is it turned on? Check the times.
  4. Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Check the Ringer and Alerts slider.  Try changing the sound pattern for the type of alert.
  5. Go to Settings > Notifications. Is the app listed?
  6. Do other sounds work? What about phone calls?
  7. Volume summary:  Adjust the volume on iPhone
  8. Do you have an Apple watch? Many of the notifications will go to the watch instead of the phone.

Note: you can send text messages to yourself for testing purposes.

Still no help, try a factory reset: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

thank you for your reply


storage 27.8gb used put of 32gb so 10% definitely free.


  1. silent side button - on switched up and down and states -silent mode off
  2. side volume buttons turned up full
  3. Do not disturb checked - and it’s off -no moon displaying to say it’s on either
  4. Checked
  5. notifications- all apps listed and checked all alerts switched on
  6. phone calls ring, iMessage sound and badge count work, messenger has been working for banner alert, sound notification and badge count
  7. checked

looks like I may have to do a factory reset 😔 think I’m going to lose a lot of stuff and spend ages setting it back up .. spent days in it already
