issues with Big Sur

I ugraded OS from high Sierra to Big Sur on my 2014 MacBook Pro. Part way through the installation, it got stuck and I had to finish the installation in safe mode. In the process, I lost an email account in mail, safari history, Firefox and chrome history and documents, pictures, downloads and recents that were in finder. I was able to recover the finder items from my external drive, but I can't find the histories or the emails. Also I can't go back into the email account and get the old emails. It's from a provider I don't use anymore so they aren't there.

Your email folders are in the user/library/mail/V directory.. Open Finder, then "Go" and option key Library then look for the mail folder. You will have to work your way down through the cryptic folders until you find the mail folder you want. Copy to the desktop then in mail import back. You can go back in TM to the correct spot.
