hi - i just update to IOS 15.3 and now I got an error saying I can't connect to my cellular carrier (verizon) and than an update it required. However, there are no updates available, and I also cannot make or receive calls. Does anyone know how to solve this?

Try to optimize the range of the mobile network, see this Apple article:
If you see No Service or Searching on your iPhone or iPad
Yes, you have to contact your carrier.
Then If your carrier confirms that there's no issue with your account or network, but you still can't connect to a cellular network, contact Apple Support.
Thanks for your response - unfortunetly everytime I open up my cellular tab in settings it just says "an update is required to use cellular data on this iPhone" then it provides a "learn more" link that leads me to the same page that you provided, but it so far has not helped
