MacBook Air M1 funky trackpad issues

The trackpad on my MB Air M1 is frustrating the heck out of me, and it's not just one issue. Sometimes, it just won't click. Other times, it will click but not drag. And still other times, it will only highlight text and not allow me to click out of it. It's random and, when it starts doing this, sometimes my Magic Mouse will have the same issue. A few times though, I've been able to start using the Magic Mouse and that kind of wakes up the trackpad's functionality, guess it starts feeling insecure about itself or something. Please tell me there's a fix for my possessed trackpad.

Hi Emprov,

Check to see if issue is related to your user account or systemwide issue by testing in a different administrator account: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac.

If issue doesn't happen in the other user account, it related to settings and/or files in the original user account.

If it does happen in a different user account, test in safe mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode. Safe mode helps determine if the issue is caused by software that loads as the Mac boots up. If it doesn't happen in safe mode, boot up normally to confirm it's resolved there as well.

Best wishes.
