SSD Failure on 2 yr old Macbook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017) that I purchased new in 2019. I only started using this device in Jan 2020 and I started getting the SSD failure. My device seems like a lemon. Everyone I know has Macbooks that last 5-7 years. Replacing the SSD costs more than the current value of the Mac.

Any suggestions?

Is this the non-Touchbar model? If so, you can try installing an OWC SSD. The SSDs on the non-Touchbar model have a higher failure rate than other Apple SSDs.

However, you may not be able to install macOS Monterey on the laptop while using a third party internal SSD if Monterey has never been installed before. The macOS Monterey installer requires an original internal Apple OEM SSD so that the system firmware can be updated by the Monterey installer.

Also keep in mind the 2016 laptop has a lot of know design defects as well such as the notorious Butterfly keyboard which has an extremely high rate of failure, plus the Display cable tends to become damaged where the backlight will go out (sometimes even the video signal itself). Since the laptop is (or is nearing) six years old, I would imagine the battery will need to be replaced soon if it has not already been replaced (it would give you a fresh keyboard as well since the battery is part of the Top Case/Keyboard Assembly). Something to keep in mind when assessing the cost of an OWC SSD. Definitely makes it less attractive.

Of course if you have the Touchbar model, then you have no option for replacing just the SSD since the SSD is an integrated part of the Logic Board.
