Your Apple ID settings need to be updated so this device can use end-to-end encryption. How do I accomplish that.

Having trouble with several items after application of the latest patches on MacOS 12.2. I keep getting asked to "Update Apple ID Settings". When I enter my icloud.com userid password nothing seems to resolve the request. I know the password is correct as I can still get email and updates from the App Store.

Also, I attempt to check the "Keychain" on my iCloud settings (as it is on all my other devices) and I receive the following message - "Your Apple ID settings need to be updated so this device can use end-to-end encryption".

I also cannot manage my iCloud storage . . . It says my "Details are not Available" and if I attempt to Manage the space I keep receiving the message " You can't manage your storage at this time . . . Wait a moment and try again later. I get this problem on all (5) of my devices.

All devices are at the latest macos or ios level and all updates have been applied. All devices use the same account on icloud.com and have the same selections. The icloud drive has less than 400MB of storage used. Backup of ios devices is done to a local system and no photos are stored on icloud.

I have lots of notes that I need to sync across all devices and currently, that is not working. Contacts, calendars, and email would be additional applications.

Rather interesting process . . . entered my password . . . then received a message I didn't have authority to do that. I am the admin for this and all (5) devices. Then I received multiple messages for several resetting different items. " A keychain cannot be found to store . . . for a given keychain . . . I took the option to Reset to Defaults. Not sure how this will turn out. I have already reloaded the most current macOS, but the worst case is to make sure I have my applications, data backed up and simply erase the hard drive and start over. on this system. At least on the other 4 devices I am not getting this "Update Apple ID Settings error.
