what is the simplest way to protect images used in an iMovie clip?

It probably would be easiest to add the watermark with your Photo editing app before importing it into iMovie.


However, you can add the watermark in iMovie as well. Use the preview app on your Mac to open a duplicate of any random photo. Do an Edit/Select All, Edit/Delete. That will leave you with a blank transparency screen. Insert your watermark and save, Then import into iMovie and overlay it as a cutaway. Then, with the cutaway controls, use the opacity slider to make the watermark opaque.
