Sync Voice Memo from iphone to Mac? Option is now missing! Big Sur 11.6.2

With the change to the Music app from iTunes, the check box to sync Voice Memo's when "hard syncing" from iPhone to Mac is gone. I am on Big Sur 11.6.2. Am I missing something?

I can't believe that here in 2022 I am even writing this. I mean syncing an app like voice memos to my Mac is Apple 101. Or so you would think. I have been using voice memos as long as iPhone has been around. And not until this wacky software shift to Apple music have things gone haywire. If any Apple engineers are reading this and want to hire me as a consultant I have a laundry list of what is dysfunctional with your software. Feel free to respond with a way to contact. :-)

Thanks for the reply. I don’t use iCloud for syncing and never will. I sync via usb cable. Everything else syncs fine as it always has.

I rather think we're at the "It's not a fault, it's a feature" stage. There are options to email or save to files. Files can use Apple's iCloud Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc., but one way or another it needs some kind of cloud storage.

So you're saying that for some reason Apple singled out voice memos from all of the data on the iPhone that has always normally synced through USB and made that one feature be the only one that now needs to be synced by a cloud method? That sure doesn't make sense.

I'm saying that it would appear to be the case. I cannot find any method in Finder to transfer Voice Memos from device into the computer, or transfer those on the computer to the device. There is however a cloud syncing method provided.

It should all happen via the cloud now. Take a look at See your recordings on all your devices - Apple Support.
