I have an old CD(contains document files from over ten years ago) in my superdrive which has not been recognised and mounted by the computer (MacAir M1 running OS 11.6.2). Disk Utility 'sees' the disc but it is greyed out. I have tried the mousepad and X button whilst restarting but CD refuses to eject. There is no eject pinhole on the drive.
Does anyone have any other tricks to try!

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you have a disc stuck in your SuperDrive.
It sounds like you've been through most suggestions to solve this issue. To confirm, you tried to restart the Mac while holding down the Trackpad/mouse? That should eject the disc.
If you have another computer, you could try connecting the SuperDrive and try ejecting the disc there.
In case that doesn't work, then it may need to be replaced. You may want to contact a local Apple Authorized Service Provider by using this link and searching nearby for locations: Find Locations
While it's not guaranteed that they'll be able to help, they may be able to recover the disc for you for a fee: Obtaining service for your Apple product after an expired warranty

Thank you for your suggestions; I had thought of trying another computer, when I can, or taking it to the local Apple Shop.
