Crash when iPad connected via USB Sidecar

Since the update to Big Sur 11.6.3 on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020), I experience a system crash when using Sidecar with a USB connected iPad running iOS 15.3 (iPad Pro 10.5 inch). The problem report states:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff801606041a): Sleep transition timed out after 180 seconds while calling power state change callbacks. Suspected bundle: com.apple.driver.AppleIntelICLLPGraphicsFramebuffer. Thread 0x6e83.

I have tried tweaking the sleep settings (unchecked prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off), reset the SMC, changed the usb cable and performed a hard reset on the iPad. The problem persists.

This was not a problem until the 11.6.3 update. Thanks for any assistance.

Hello procnotdefined,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're happy to help with this trouble you're having using Sidecar with the MacBook Pro. We suggest resetting the Trust settings between the iPad and the computer. This can be done by resetting the network settings on the iPad. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Now keep in mind, this also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before. Once this is complete, you should be prompted to "Trust this device" when connected to the MacBook via USB.

Let us know the outcome, and we can go from there if needed. We look forward to hearing back from you.

Best regards!

Eric,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, this did not correct the issue. After following your instructions to reset the Network Settings on the iPad, and restarting both devices, the MacBook Pro continues to crash.

I've found that checking "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off" solves the immediate issue, but this was not necessary before the 11.6.3 update.

Again, thanks!
