how to delete an empty folder

On my Macbook Pro I have an empty folder called numbers inside the app. Since the folder is empty, I want to delete it. When I delete the folder, it goes back to the apps section again. I've tried various ways to remove it… is there something wrong with my macbook?

Where did these folders come from/what are they...

You should not be manually trying to delete Time Machine folders(?)

how to delete from Time Machine folders?

? Empty folders in Applications... maybe a screen shot or some corroborating information for clarification.

If these are backups—

~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup

You can safely ignore empty folders.
