imovie will not move to timeline
When I select the movie clip, the small "+" never appears to add to timeline.

When I select the movie clip, the small "+" never appears to add to timeline.

It might be a corrupt preference causing the + not to appear. Try deleting preferences and see if that cures it. To delete preferences open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in
the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.
If deleting preferences does not cure it try creating a new project and see if the issue is corrected.
However, you do not need to rely on the + symbol to get your clips to the timeline. As a workaround you can drag the clip from the browser to the timeline.
