Lost Bluetooth after OS upgrade

Lost Bluetooth after downloading Monterey on a 2016 iMac 27" 5K. Apple Support unable to resolve after trying multiple things. Trying to reinstall Monterey thru Recovery mode presented Catalina as the only option. What the heck

iMac 27″, macOS 12.2

Would recommend a clean Monterey installation from scratch:

  1. Backup your data
  2. Verify your backup is good and working
  3. Download the latest Monterey macOS 12.2.1 from the App Store so you have "Install macOS Monterey" in /Applications
  4. Obtain a 16GB or greater USB Flash drive
  5. Read this support document on how to Create a bootable USB installer https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372
  6. Format the USB Flash drive as HFS+ and name it "MyVolume"
  7. Open Terminal, copy and paste the Monterey command line from step 5 above
  8. Wait patiently, it can take a while.
  9. Double-check that you are ready to wipe everything out and start fresh with Monterey
  10. Shutdown the Mac completely. Hold the Option key and keep holding it, press and release the power button
  11. When you hear the startup chime or see the Apple logo you can let go of the Option button
  12. Select the Monterey USB installer disk and boot
  13. Open Disk Utility and completely erase the internal disk using APFS then quit Disk Utility
  14. Click on the Monterey installer and run it
  15. Check for Updates when it's done
  16. Re-install your Apps and reconfigure all your settings
  17. Restore you data from backup
