another device on the network is using your computer's IP address

when I tried to connect internet with my iMac, it shows that "another device on the network is using your computer's IP address". How can I solve this problem? thanks

This is most likely due to your router assigning the same local IP address twice. You can get your iMac to ask for a new IP address.

Go to System Preferences > Network > Advanced > TCP/IP

and click the button saying Renew DHCP lease.
