I'm not notified about WhatsApp, Viber calls and messages unless I open the app. It almost looks like the apps are not working in the background. When I open those apps everything appears, messages missed calls etc.
iOS is latest, Settings are good. This started happening suddenly. It worked few days ago. Any help here Apple?

I also have the same problem with whatsapp on iphone 6.
It happened after I installed the most recent version of ios for that phonr (12.5.5).
I only get calls and texts if whatsapp is the only app open whether in the background or not - all other apps have to be closed.
Restarting, forced restart, toggling on/off airplane mode and offloading the app has made no difference; nor does it matter if background app refresh is on or off.
Apple support say the only thing left to try is to completely delete the app and then reinstall but I'm not prepared to do that at the moment.
Hope other people stumble upon this and cn offer more help.
Dont drop that BS on me mate. iOS is apple product. Several apps cant stop working at the same time coz of their fault. Is there an issue with background app refresh on latest version or not!? Or do you have an helpful answer?
