Your fan always runs. It's just that you don't always hear it unless it runs at a higher speed. That is running is a good thing. It also depends on the software installed and whats running. for instance, if you have Google Chrome. and are watching streaming videos. That can cause your fan to rev up.About fans and fan noise in your Apple product - Apple Support

..mary jean:

Perhaps the MacBook Pro has something not officially sanctioned such as antivirus

or other 'utility' that has habit of running or scanning in the macOS; and taxing the

system, freely and unnecessarily using system resources? Third-party cleanup tools?

You may see something amiss in the Mac by using Activity Monitor; which can be

used to temporarily stop those run-amok processes; or force-quit them, in there.

A better article is more all-inclusive to look deeper into the Mac.

Some suggestions may include use of free EtreCheck utility, which

most users of long acquaintance in ASC have and use on occasion.

Innovated by a Mac user, who decided some time ago to share it.

Another idea may be to occasionally run a useful 'anti-malware

tool for Mac'. Also innovated by a mac user participant in ASC.
