PDF manuals not appearing in Books on my Monterrey iMac

What do I need to do to make my PDFs stored in Books appear on my new iMac?

For years I have stored the user manuals for my cameras and other PDFs in my Books app.

These have always simply appeared in the Books apps of my MacBook Pro, my old iMac, and my iOS devices.

These PDFs are not showing up in Books on my new iMac running Monterrey despite that computer being signed into the same iCloud account.

What do I need to do to make these PDFs appear on my new iMac?
