I am in the process of buying a new iMac because my old 2008 Mac Pro is getting slower and out of date. I would like to know how big is the hassel to migrate special data such as music and certain software like Easy Find, etc.

Data is easy since it is in your user and you migrate your user from your Time Machine backup.
You can also migrate from your other Mac connected to same network. Also, if you put the startup disk in an enclosure you can connect tha to the new Mac and migrate. That is faster than over network
I would not migrate any apps since they likely will not work in the macOS version.
I would not migrate system setting either since the new Mac will be very different.
Sorry, in fact I should have titled this post : Getting back data from Mac Pro...
Thanks Illaass, Now I just have to learn how to migrate my user on my Mac Pro to my new iMac.
